I’ll admit Beats, Rhymes & Life isn’t A Tribe Called Quest’s best album. Of the five original LP’s they released, I’d say it ranks around fourth. So why select this one over Peoples’ Instinctive Travels & the Paths of Rhythm, The Low End Theory, or Midnight Marauders?
Like other entries in the Crate Diggin’ feature, Beats, Rhymes & Life is a slept-on LP. Though none of the tracks is among the upper echelon of the Tribe’s best tracks (e.g. “Youthful Expression” “Check The Rhime,” “Electric Relaxation”, the list goes on and on), there are a few gems on Beats, Rhymes & Life that I still enjoy hearing. Ultimately, A Tribe Called Quest’s lesser tracks are still better than most rappers’ greatest hits.

One of the factors that convinced me to use Firefox as my primary web browser is the bevy of free extensions that allow outside developers to bolt additional functionality onto the browser. There are thousands of these extensions; visit Fashion Your FIrefox to learn more, but keep in mind that extensions can slow down Firefox’s performance.
One of the Firefox extensions that I have found indispensible is DownThemAll, a download manager that provides one-click access to save files from a web page to your computer. You can easily customize DownThemAll to only download files of specific type (e.g. mp3, images, pdf).
So if you want to grab all the tracks I uploaded to a specific post, you can do it in one click. Even better, you can efficiently download my vinyl recordings or 5-star classics by using the tag cloud to the right.

Don’t get me wrong. I had only a grain-of-sand sized belief that Michael Jackson would ever be relevant to my life again, at least from a musical perspective. Certainly, the tabloid drama that was his life continues to enthrall, but it never overshadowed the breathtaking catalog of recordings that he drove into creation.
